PayPal provides protection by acting as an intermediary between the seller and the buyer.

This protection covers the following cases:

  • The item was never delivered (Item Not Received – INR)

  • The item is not as described (Significantly Not as Described – SNAD)

In other words, you received the wrong product, it is damaged, essential parts are missing, its condition is worse than described, it is a counterfeit or fake, it is a different model, etc.

This protection does NOT cover cases where:

  • The purchase was made in person

  • The products are customized (often excluded)

  • Digital products (usually not covered)

  • You changed your mind about the purchase

From the time of payment, the buyer has 180 days to open a dispute with PayPal’s support service. In most cases, PayPal will refund the money to the buyer, and the seller will never receive it. This means you must return the product.

If you want to make a purchase

To buy an item from a seller you don’t trust, you must send the money through PayPal using the “Goods & Services” option and NOT “Friends & Family.” The “Friends & Family” option does not provide buyer protection.

Some tips:

  • Use only the Noiz chat to communicate with the seller, and NOT the phone or text messages

  • It’s a good idea to take screenshots before sending the money (listing title, description, images, price, etc., as well as your communication with the seller, etc.)

  • The photos you send must be clear and unedited

  • If the transaction doesn’t go well, don’t let too much time pass (180-day limit)

In most cases, PayPal prioritizes buyer protection.

If you want to sell

  • It’s important that the product description accurately reflects its actual condition. If the item has signs of wear or isn’t fully functional, this must be described in detail

  • Upload as many photos as possible to provide a comprehensive view of the product’s condition. You can also upload videos.

  • Use the “Condition” field correctly:

    • New: the item is brand new and has never been used

    • Excellent: The item has been used but is in excellent condition with no visible signs of use

    • Good: The item has been used and shows signs of use that do not affect its functionality at all

    • Fair: The item has many visible signs of use and/or its functionality is impaired

    • Poor: The item is not functional or is barely functional
